Definitions:
Current GPA -- Includes grades from a specific term.

  • The GPA is equal to the number of Quality Points (QP) divided by the number of Quality Hours (QH).
  • Quality Hours (QH) = total number of hours for courses student received a grade of A, B, C, D or E (including + and - grades)
  • Quality Points (QP) = number of credit hours per course multiplied by the value of the grade received. Example values: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, E=0
  • Courses with grades of P, F, I, S, W or AU do not figure in GPA calculations.

Sample Grade Point Average Calculation:
Course QH Grade X Grade-point
Equivalent

English 1 4 C   x 2.0 = 8.0
American History 3 E   x 0.0 = 0.0
Geometry 3 B+ x 3.3 = 9.9
Spanish I 5 B-  x 2.7 = 13.5
Total: 15   31.4
31.4 QP ÷ 15 QH = 2.09 GRADE POINT AVERAGE
